Constance 'Connie' (Pappalardo) Ward

Constance “Connie” (Pappalardo) Ward, 83, beloved wife of Dr. William P Ward, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Monday, Oct. 29, 2018. Daughter of the late Lucy and Sebastian Pappalardo, she was born and raised in Hartford. She graduated from Bulkeley High School and Central Connecticut State University (Teachers College of Connecticut) with a B.A. in Education. She then received her M.A. in Education from the University of Hartford. Connie was a resident of Newington for over 35 years and then retired to their home in Quechee, Vt..

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, William “Bill” Ward; daughter, Candy Kuker and her husband Jay Kuker of North Brunswick, N.J.; son Bill Ward of Plymouth, Mass., grandchildren, Scott Kuker and his wife Nicole Kuker of Piscataway, N.J., Samantha Kuker of North Brunswick, N.J., Bailey Ward and Meredith Ward of Plymouth, Mass. She also leaves behind her sisters, Lucy Privitera and Frances Gorynski, both of Rocky Hill, and numerous nieces and nephews. Connie was predeceased by her brothers-in-law Carmelo Privitera and Raymond Gorynski.

Connie was employed by the Hartford Public Schools for 38 years as a Kindergarten teacher and Early Childhood Specialist. Connie enjoyed playing golf and skiing in Vermont. She attended many sporting events with her husband and children. Her favorites were Boston College football and basketball games, numerous Yankee games, and professional tennis matches.

Connie was a world traveler but her most treasured place was Rome where she and her husband would visit their nephew preparing for the priesthood.

Connie’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers from Sunrise of East Brunswick, N.J., for all their care and compassion shown to her during her time there.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, Nov. 5, at St. Mary’s Church, Newington. She was laid to rest in West Meadow Cemetery.
