It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Laura Grove Kemp on Jan. 3. She died peacefully after a nearly two-year-long battle with ALS. Laura was born in Hartford and spent most of her first two decades in Newington, Conn. She graduated from Avon High School and American University in Washington, D.C. After college, she moved to New York City, married in 2000 and moved to Old Greenwich, Conn., in 2005. Her unbridled optimism and enthusiasm for life were contagious to all who knew her.
Her proudest accomplishments were her daughter, Hunter and son, Reed – whom she adored and loved with all of her heart. She is survived by her husband, Peter; her father, Ernest Grove of Sarasota, Fla.; her brother, Stephen and his wife, Robin, of New Windsor, N.Y.; and her sister, Lynn Meheran of Hudson, Mass. She also leaves behind her nephew, Michael Grove, his wife and two children of Nashua, N.H.; and her niece, Sarah Cramer, her husband and child of Mahopac, N.Y. She was predeceased by her mother, Rhea Grove.
A celebration of her life was held in Old Greenwich on Jan. 12. Donations in her memory may be made to the ALS Association.
