NEWINGTON-The Newington boys ice hockey team wanted to close the regular season out with a strong showing at home, and did just that on Saturday.

Goaltender Andrew Fogarty recorded a shutout as the Indians blanked Enfield-East Granby-Stafford in the final game before the CCC Tournament. The win was the team’s second in a row, closing its home slate with a pair of solid defensive performances, after allowing just one goal to Hall-Southington on Wednesday.

Killian Ranger started the scoring for Newington, while junior defenseman Justin Stergos recorded a goal and two assists.

In the final home game of the regular season, seniors Tyler Ralph and Pat Doherty also found the back of the net for the Indians, while senior Matt Lavoie added a pair of assists in a fitting goodbye to the home crowd.
