NEWINGTON – There’s a new burger joint in town.
Actually it would be inaccurate to label Prime Burger so casually, since owner Enzo Beskovic completely remodeled the building at 217 Kelsey St., the decor is upscale and the burgers are 8 oz. hand-ground and hand-formed prime beef patties.
“It’s a new venture in Newington,” Beskovic said Tuesday evening, just as members of the Newington Chamber of Commerce began arriving for a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
“We’ve been in the industry for about 20 years,” Beskovic said. “All of us worked with high-end chefs before we decided to go out on our own. The location brought me here. We are hoping for the best.”
For lunch, there are burgers, paninis, appetizers and salads. The dinner menu includes all of the above in addition to pasta, seafood and steak.
“Every burger is a creative burger,” Beskovic said. “We use prime beef, ground in-house, hand formed patties grilled to perfection until very tender and flavorful.”
The burger with his name on it is topped with smoked mozzarella, lettuce, tomato, crispy spiced onions and a house-made sauce.
All patties come with your choice of fries, onion rings, salad or coleslaw.
Manager Roland Makolli’s philosophy is treating people like family.
“We want customers to feel like this is their home,” Makolli said. “They’re family when they come here.”
“We’re super excited to have him in town,” Newington Chamber of Commerce Director Leslie Civitello said Tuesday. “The food is delicious…generous portions…friendly staff. Couldn’t ask for anything more.”
There is also a full bar, featuring a wine list and menu of specialty cocktails.
Prime Burger is open seven days a week, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
