BERLIN – If you love the Berlin Fair, you’re going to love this.
The Berlin Lions Club has elected to add an extra day to the fair lineup this year, following feedback from the community on the annual event.
The Berlin Lions 73rd Agricultural Fair will now open on Thursday, Sept. 15 at 4 p.m. and continue Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
“We are looking forward to bringing a bigger and better Berlin Fair to Central Connecticut,” Fair President Phil Porter told the Herald Tuesday. “We have listened to the many comments and suggestions from our fairgoers and I think everyone will be happy with the Berlin Fair they’ve come to love over the years with tasteful changes.”
Traditionally the fair opens on Friday and runs through Sunday afternoon.
The very first fairgoers who come that Thursday will get to experience a demolition derby, along with rides, food booths, a beer booth and a brand new “Martini Bar.”
The agricultural booths and exhibits will not be open that day however, as the animal exhibitors are expected to set up that night ahead of the weekend’s displays and judging.
There may also be some musical treats for Thursday’s fairgoers.
“We’re working on putting together some entertainment for that extra day open,” said Lenny Tubbs, marketing and entertainment chairman. “There should be something for everyone.”
Proceeds from the fair go to the many causes and charitable organizations that the Berlin Lions Club supports in the community and throughout the world.
