Newington and Southington both had a resident die from coronavirus-associated illness, according to state health officials Thursday. Statewide there were 20 virus deaths added to a total that now stands at 7,496.
New Britain has had 184 virus-associated deaths among residents, while Bristol has had 124, Newington 101, Southington 86, Plainville 36, Berlin 29 and Plymouth 7 since reporting began.
There were 27,015 coronavirus cases reported Thursday with 547 coming back as positive cases, a positivity rate of 2.02%. There was a decrease in residents hospitalized with coronavirus, dropping by 16 to 568.
New Britain had a dozen new coronavirus cases among residents over the past day for a total of 8,139.
Bristol had one new coronavirus case among residents for a total of 4,622.
Southington had eight more residents that tested positive for the virus for a total of 2,871.
Newington had three additional residents that tested positive for the virus for a total of 2,274.
A day after having no additional positive cases, Berlin added nine to its total of 1,283 Thursday.
Plainville had four more residents that tested positive for the virus for a total of 1,256.
Plymouth had a pair of residents added to its positive coronavirus total Thursday. The town has had 703 cases.
