NEWINGTON -- Due to the extreme heat expected Saturday, the annual Life. Be in it. Extravaganza will reduce its operating hours, Parks and Recreation Superintendent Bill DeMaio said in a statement.
The 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. portion of the activities will be delayed until 5 p.m, the statement said. The special event will begin at 5 p.m. at Mill Pond Park. The craft, civic group, and corporate row vendor booths will be set up in the tennis court parking lot off of Browning Street. They can begin setting up at 3 p.m. and officially open at 5. They will remain open through the end of the fireworks.
The carnival rides will be open from 5 to 9:15 p.m. The wristband price for Saturday has been reduced from $30.00 to $25.00. The beer and wine garden, the band Mass-Conn Fusion, the food truck festival ,the Renee DiNino appearance from iHeartRadio, the Rosenberg Orthodontics two story high Tiki Water Slide will all take place between 5 and 9:30 p.m.
The largest Newington fireworks show ever will be choreographed to music and begin promptly at 9:30 p.m, DeMaio said in the statement. “We hope everyone understands the public safety issues that we are facing. We hope that you will come and join the Newington Parks and Recreation Family at Mill Pond Park Saturday evening for a night of family fun.”
