NEWINGTON - The 13th annual Cruising Newington has been postponed to its second rain date, next week.
The car show was set to take place Thursday, but has been rescheduled to next Thursday, June 27, due to a forecast of rain and possible thunderstorms.
In an email Wednesday afternoon, Cruising Newington Chairman Bob Newbold told The Herald, “We’re postponing, hoping next Thursday will be better!”
Area car aficionados in the Connecticut Street Legends car club and local residents look forward to the yearly show, which features all ages, makes and models.
The Newington Chamber of Commerce event will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. in Market Square.
Show cars are invited to line up at 4:30 p.m. with a $10 entry fee. Car club members will direct them where to park. Spectators are free. Dash plaques will be distributed to the first 200 arrivals.
Constance Leigh Drive and Main Street will remain open during the show. Restaurants and businesses downtown will welcome visitors before, during and after the event.
