NEWINGTON - The Parks and Recreation Department has postponed the Motorcycle Madness event to Thursday, May 23.
The event was being postponed due to wet field conditions. Since the main event is held on the grass area of Mill Pond Park, the department wanted to ensure that the field is sufficiently dry to withstand the thousands of motorcycles and spectators expected to attend.
Motorcycle Madness is going on its fourth year and has gotten bigger and better each year. This year, well over 1,000 motorcycles are expected along with thousands more people who will attend without a motorcycle.
“It’s a really great family event,” said Nick Pizzoferrato, recreation supervisor. “It has something for everyone. Though we prefer to hold the event on its originally scheduled date, we want to make sure we provide the best possible venue for everyone attending, which is why we have decided to postpone to the rain date of May 23. The event will still be held at Mill Pond Park and will begin at 4:30 p.m., as originally planned.”
Anyone attending the event can expect to see live music featuring The Savage Brothers, a food truck festival, product vendors, a close-proximity fireworks show, a blessing of the bikes, family-fun lawn games, and more. The playground is open for children as well.
