NEWINGTON - Residents may have noticed some new faces around 112 Market Square in recent months.

Connecticut Insurance Exchange has expanded, adding new employees and new insurance capabilities.

A community landmark for over four decades, CIE already partnered with more than 30 different insurance providers, connecting clients with competitive premiums for auto, home, life, business, travel and pet insurance.

Most recently the company boosted its commercial insurance department with the addition of Heather McGann, CPCU.

“Heather brings a wealth of knowledge with experience as a Commercial Insurance Course Instructor and Commercial Multi-line Underwriter,” Marketing Vice President Melanie Thomson-Tregoning said this week.

Professional development is ongoing among team members. Three employees just completed their first course towards earning CPCU certification, to become experts in property-casualty insurance.

Newcomer David Green has allowed CIE to expand its personal lines department, which includes auto and home insurance, as well as umbrella packages. A graduate of Southern Connecticut State University with excellent people skills, Green is fluent in English and Spanish.

“As our business expands, so do the companies we represent,” Tregoning said. “We recently added Quincy Mutual, which offers both commercial and personal insurance products.”

She and CIE owner Ron Tregoning, her husband, are officers and founding members of the Greater Newington Charitable Society. The non-profit foundation is a charitable outlet for local residents and businesspeople.

Its annual Indian Summer BBQ Bash in November raised over $10,000 for the Autism Center at the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain and the Fisher House, which serves the families of veterans receiving medical treatment at the VA hospital in West Haven.

CIE was the event’s main sponsor. The insurance team continues to be active in the Newington community, also sponsoring Tuesday Trivia Nights at TJ’s on Cedar.

This spring the GNCS and CIE are collaborating to host another fundraiser for causes they support, including youths and veterans. The Kentucky Derby Party is set for Saturday, May 4. More details will be available in coming months.

Once again, CIE has been recognized as Connecticut Magazine’s Outstanding Five-Star Home/Auto Professional.

Connecticut Insurance Exchange is open Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or by appointment. Call (860) 666-5443 or visit, Facebook/CIELTD for more information. CIE is also on Instagram and Twitter, at PayLessCT.
