The Newington Children’s Theatre Company, Connecticut’s longest operating children’s theatre, has a few spots remaining in its In Performance class for the first production of 2018, “A Year With Frog and Toad Kids,” performing March 16-25.
In Performance gives kids, ages 5-8 the opportunity to learn and strengthen their musical theatre skills, while becoming more comfortable with being on stage. Throughout the four-week class, children learn blocking, music and choreography in preparation to become part of the ensemble of NCTC’s upcoming production, performing in up to three shows.
For “A Year With Frog and Toad Kids” there are two sessions to choose from: Feb. 14 to March 7, Wednesdays, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. or Feb. 17 to March 10, Saturdays, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. There are two rehearsals with the older cast (to be determined) that the younger class is required to attend. Participation fee: $125.
Based on Arnold Lobel’s well-loved children’s books, the jazzy, upbeat score bubbles with melody. Part vaudeville, part make-believe, and all charm, “A Year with Frog and Toad Kids” tells the story of a friendship that endures throughout the seasons.
Classes, rehearsals and performances are held at the NCTC Performing Arts Theatre, 743 North Mountain Road.
