The Newington Children’s Theatre Company will present its final Act Out, one-act production of 2017, “A 21st Century Christmas Carol,” this weekend only, Dec. 15 and 16.

Performances are Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10.

There will be a special performance for Girl Scouts and Boy Scout on Saturday, Dec. 16, at 10 a.m. followed by a fun badge-earning workshop. Tickets are $15.

Eleanor Scrooge, a greedy old spinster, spends her days barking orders at her gift shop employees.

Though the mall will be closed, she still wants them to work on Christmas Day! Then she’s visited by the ghost of her old boss, Mr. Marley, and a parade of zany spirits who materialize from cheesy collectible figurines.

First there’s the Spirit of the Past, who loves the 1990s and takes Eleanor dancing at a bygone party.

Then there’s the Spirit of the Present, who takes Eleanor to the Hatchett family Christmas dinner, where Eleanor feels like she’s watching a sitcom with a nice message of forgiveness.

Run time is 45 minutes, without an intermission. Performances are held at NCTC, located at 743 North Mountain Road. For more information, visit www.NCTCArts.org or call 860-666-NCTC.
