NEWINGTON - Sisters Huma and Fozia Rafique are living their dream, designing kitchens from a storefront enterprise on the Berlin Turnpike.

The Kitchen Flooring Depot opened in 2016 under the family’s ownership. A stroll through the showroom with one of the ladies reveals an extensive knowledge of their craft, honed after 15-plus years with several big-name home improvement stores.

“After many years in the business of selling kitchens we finally decided if we work for ourselves we can serve our clients better,” Huma said. “So far we haven’t had one unhappy customer.”

Excellent customer service is at the heart of their mission. And kitchens, they say - are the heart of the home.

“We have 35 installers and kitchen designers who can actually go out and help the customer figure out a design that’s right for them,” Huma explained.

Their team can install a brand new kitchen - including cabinets, countertops and more - for as low as $4,999. The company offers payment plans interest-free for the first year. Prices start as low as $150 per month for a completely remodeled kitchen.

“It’s important to us to provide the lowest prices in the market,” Fozia pointed out.

Every option imaginable is on display in the 3,000- square-foot showroom. Visitors are free to browse, dream up ideas for their custom-made kitchen and learn how to make it a reality. From tile and wood floors to quartz and granite countertops and intricate cabinets, dozens of brand-name vendors are featured.

In fact, over 600 cabinet styles are available, with variations of wood, brands, styles and many, many door knobs. Schrock and Quality Cabinets are two American-made brands that have been very popular.

“This can be a one-stop shop for clients,” Huma said. “We have experienced, licensed and insured designers so their projects go smoothly. They don’t have to go to different places.”

In addition to the tangible product varieties at their fingertips, customers can also see how their kitchen will look with its new features, using specialized 2020 Design software.

“If people bring in their room dimensions to us and what they are looking for we can visualize the whole layout on our computer,” Huma said.
