This is Sunny, one of the two parakeets (2-years-old) that we have in Newington. Parakeets (also known as budgies) bring joy and song to your home. These curious creatures seek out novel objects, which make them fun to watch when they interact with their toys and perches. They are social birds, who can be hand tamed and will seek out their owners once bonded.
Parakeets can be single pets, or can be kept as pairs or small, single-sex groups. We recommend a flight habitat suitably sized for the number of parakeets housed. It should contain perches in a range of sizes, which should be cleaned and sterilized regularly. With proper care, Parakeets can live between 7 and 15 years.
