The September meeting of the Newington Art League will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 13, at 6:30 p.m. at the Newington Senior and Disabled Center in the Ceramics Room.  The meeting is open to the public and new members are always welcome.

The September guest demonstrator will be Ben Parker demonstrating origami tessellations - shapes that are repeated covering a plane with no gaps or overlaps.

The Newington Art League meets on the second Wednesday of September, October, November, March, April and May. Each meeting includes a brief business meeting followed by a demonstration in one of the visual arts.  The league also holds a holiday party in December and a picnic in the summer.

The Newington Art League continues to hold open workshops for members.  These free workshops offer members an opportunity to paint in any medium and share the experience of other artists. Visit or contact Pat Tanger for details, at 860-666-5026.

The league holds an annual spring art show at the town hall in conjunction with the town wide art show and an annual art show in the fall at the library.  The league also participates in the Waterfall Festival and awards an annual scholarship to a Newington High School Senior on Scholarship Night.

Membership in the Newington Art League is open both Newington residents and non-residents.  The requirements are simply an interest in the visual arts and a willingness to be an active participant in the league’s activities. Membership offers artists the opportunity to show work in the league’s shows and exhibits, vote on league business and hold office in the league.
