The New Britain Bees have made their first significant hire as a new member of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League. Ray Ricker was announced as the team’s manager Wednesday.

Ricker is currently the baseball head coach at Post University in Waterbury. The Bristol resident has past summer collegiate baseball experience in the Cape Cod League and NECBL.

“Ray brings the Bees a tremendous amount of knowledge, experience and a track record of success,” Bees General Manager Brad Smith said. “He is local, has successful previous summer collegiate experience, and runs a terrific program at Post. I am excited to work with him.”

As a college coach, Ricker has won the most conference titles in program history at Post.

“I’m excited to join the Bees and help put a top shelf product on the field,” Ricker said. “We are going to build a strong team, compete hard every game, and have a program Central Connecticut baseball fans will want to come out, support, and root for.”
