NEW BRITAIN -New Britain Bees outfielder Michael Crouse can add another post-season award to his list for the 2017 season.
On Monday, it was the Rawlings Gold Glove Defensive Player of the Year for the Atlantic League.
“We are very pleased to hear that Michael has been named the 2017 Atlantic League Defensive Player of the Year,” new Bees general manager Brad Smith said in a statement. “He showed great effort all season long and also made one of the most memorable defensive plays of the year. This is a tremendous honor for him.”
Crouse played in 131 of 140 games in the outfield, recording a .986 field percentage with 333 putouts and 12 assists. The 26-year-old provided one of the best highlights of the season on June 26 against the Lancaster Barnstormers when he jump up on the outfield wall at Clipper Magazine Stadium, robbing Lancaster’s KC Hobson of a home run.
In addition to being named the Atlantic League Defensive Player of the Year, Crouse was named to the Atlantic League Red, White and Blue All-Defensive team.
