NEW BRITAIN - It seems the experiment to have Eric Fornataro in the starting rotation is over - at least for now.

The New Britain Bees placed the right-hander on the inactive list Thursday afternoon, one day after Fornataro made his fifth start of the season.

Against the Bridgeport Bluefish on Wednesday night Fornataro lasted just three-plus innings and was charged with four hits and five runs. He also walked three batters compared to just one strikeout.

The 29-year-old now appears to be headed to the bullpen when or if he is placed back on the active roster. On the season he is 0-2 with a 7.71 ERA.

Chris Hayes takes Fornataro’s spot on the active roster. The right-hander is 0-2 himself with an ERA of 8.00 in seven appearances of out the bullpen.
