The CCSU men and women’s soccer dropped both of their matches at home on Sunday with the women falling to Oregon State 2-0 and the men falling to Harvard 4-0.

For the Blue Devil women, the loss snaps a 35-game unbeaten streak at home, and drops the Blue Devils to 3-2 on the season. Oregon State remains perfect to start the season, improving to 6-0.

Two scoring opportunities by Roma McLaughlin were turned aside by Oregon State goalkeeper Skiba Bridgette. Bridgette stops three shots for the win.

Amanda McQuillan stopped her lone shot on goal in the first half, despite the Beavers controlling the ball much of the half. The Beavers wasted no time getting on the board coming out of halftime, though, scoring in the 56th minute off the foot of McKenna Martinez. In the 82nd minute the Beavers added insurance with an unassisted score from Abby Schwartz.

Two early scores for the Harvard men had CCSU on its heels early, unable to match the firepower of The Crimson. Alessandro Arlotti and Cornelius Bencsik scored in the 1st and 6th minute of action, respectively, giving Harvard all it neede for the rest of the game.

Duncan Sutherland’s score in the 43rd minute capped off a dominant first half of action, giving Harvard a 3-0 lead at intermission. Nick White scored in the 70th minute to send home Harvard with a convincing win for its first of the season.

The loss for the Blue Devil men knock them to 0-3 on the season. The Blue Devils won the battle in the shots on goal department, out-shooting The Crimson 8-7. Jason Dubrovich had three saves in the game.
