The Bristol Blues are once again hosting “Christmas in July” at Muzzy Field for Sunday’s doubleheader against the Pittsfield Suns in an effort to lend a hand to those in need.
The first game of tonight’s doubleheader is the completion of a suspended game from June 30, which will be resumed in the top of the third inning with the Blues ahead 3-0.
Two seasons ago, the Blues adopted a very special “player” to the organization. Arley Sage was made an honorary Blue during the 2015 season. In 2014, she was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, which is a rare muscle cancer. Arley is looking to help out those that could benefit from a little pick me up.
The Bristol Blues organization is partnering with Team Arley Sage for its second annual toy drive at Muzzy Field on Sunday. All brand new, unwrapped toys will be donated to children with life-threatening illnesses across Connecticut who could benefit from receiving a special something in their time of hardship.
Toys will be collected throughout the games, with gates opening at 2 p.m. and the first pitch of the opening game scheduled for 3:15 p.m.
Anyone that brings a toy to help the cause will get into the ballpark free of charge (general admission only). Note that due to the nature of children fighting life-threatening illnesses, only toys that are brand new, factory sealed and have not been recalled can be collected.
